Cherry Nut Snow Cake

1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1 half teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
four egg whites
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons maraschino cherries, chopped
1 recipe Seven Minute Frosting
eight maraschino cherries, halved

Instructions :

Preheat the oven to 350 levels F (a hundred seventy five stages C). Line the bottoms of two 9 inch round pans, or one 9 x 13 inch rectangular pan, with parchment paper.
