Ingredients :

1 cup dates, pitted and chopped
1 cup boiling water
1 three/4 cups all-cause flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/four teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
half cup chopped walnuts
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions :

In a small bowl, combine dates with boiling water. Set apart to chill.
